The American Korean Tae Kwon Do Association (AKTA) was founded by Grandmaster Choon Lee, who established its Headquarters, Choon Lee's Academy, in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, in 1973. The AKTA is one of the premier martial-arts organizations in the Midwest and is considered as the "Best Dojo" in the Greater Kansas City area. The AKTA has produced more than 1,000 black belts of both genders and of all ages; and maintained a diversity of cultures, rich heritage of Master-ranked instructors, World Champions, Junior Olympic competitors, and outstanding martial artists. The AKTA is also considered as an "extended home" by many instructors, students, and students' families.
